58. SENIORS FINAL – DUE TUESDAY BEFORE CLASS IS OVER

PowerPoint or Spark Presentation 

Create a PowerPoint or Spark presentation with the projects that you have created throughout the semester. You should have a title slide with the title of the project, your name and some kind of drawing that you created. The rest of the presentation will have your favorite 10 projects that you created during the semester. Each slide should include your piece, a title for the piece, and why you liked this project or what you did with the project (Do not say, “this was an easy project,” or “this was fun.” You need to explain in complete sentences what you liked about the project and how you created it). When you are done you need to upload the file to your blog as “PowerPoint or Spark Presentation,” if you can’t get it to upload to your blog email it to me.

You will be graded on:

One title slide with your name, the title, and a drawing that you created

10 of your favorite project or piece created

Each slide has the piece clearly visible, a title, and a reason why you chose this piece to include in the slide show

Creativity of PowerPoint, including color and font scheme

58. Sketchbook Introduction due Monday before class is over

We will discuss different uses on Sketchbook program and then you will create an image of your choice. Save the image and then upload to your blog as “Sketchbook Intro.”

59. Son of Man due Tuesday before class is over

Using this link, find out about the image Son of Man by Rene Magritte. Then recreate your own self portrait, using Sketchbook and images found on the internet. Make sure to include a bowler hat and something to cover part of your face. Save the image and then upload to your blog as “Self Portrait.” Below are examples.

60. Contour Lines due Wednesday before class is over

This link will explain what contour lines are. After we go over contour lines, you will find a leaf to observe and then using sketchbook you will draw your own contour line drawing of that leaf. Save the image and then upload to your blog as “Contour Drawing.” 

61. Newsweek due Thursday before class is over

Using the template below (click on it to enlarge and then save it), create a Newsweek cover page, with you as the cover. When you take the photo of yourself, make sure that the background is solid to avoid a cluttered image. You will also add in two article titles on the page, there is an example below as well. Save the image and upload to your blog as “Newsweek.”

Create an image that shows the theme of creature, you need to decide how to show this, what kind of images will you use and how you will show that theme throughout your image. You will use Artset on the iPads, save your image onto the photo library and then upload to your blog as “Creature.” You will be graded on creativity and the use of the theme.

55. Voyage Due Tuesday before class is over

Create an image that shows the theme of voyage, you need to decide how to show this, what kind of images will you use and how you will show that theme throughout your image. You will use Artset on the iPads. Save your image onto the photo library and then upload to your blog as “Voyage.”You will be graded on creativity and the use of the theme.

52. Triptych Emotions – Due Tuesday before class is over

Go to the following website to learn about Triptychs and look at examples for the project. 

Create a triptych of images that depict various emotions. You can depict 3 different emotions or 3 variations of one emotion.

All images have to meet the following criteria:

  • Unity of all images, use of repetition and rhythm
  • Appropriate dimensions
  • Each emotion is evident in the artwork
  • All images are extensively edited in Photoshop. Filters and/or blending modes are used. 
  • Creativity
  • Craftsmanship – that means “quality of selections” in Photoshop!
  • Overall flow in the design. Try to “tell a story” or convey some message with your artwork!

53. Social Media Historical Character Page – Due Thursday before class is over

Create a fake social media page for a historical character of your choice and a second profile page of a fictional character. Lay out your page to look like an Instagram profile page. Include the persons top 9 photos that they would have on their page, how many posts, followers, following, their name and profile image, and the layout of the page. Images do need to be school appropriate and you can edit and change them to make them more likely to be used by your historical character. Your images need to reflect an understanding of your character and their motivations and beliefs. Include in your post a paragraph explaining how the profile conveys the information about your character.  This should be 8×10, so make sure that your images are clear and large enough. Title your blog post “Social Media Page.” Post this as a gallery with the two profiles. Make sure to include the paragraph after the image that explains the person and what they would want people to think of them in their profile. Below are two examples.

 

Assignments April 22-25

48. Photomontage – Due Monday

Make a well blended digital photomontage (11×8 or 8×11 -300 res) to show where you see yourself in 10 years. Under your photomontage write a 1 paragraph reflection explaining the elements you put in your work. Title the blog “Photomontage.”

49. Sliced due Tuesday before class is over

You have one class period to create something sliced! What you choose and how you slice it is up to you, however, your best bet is to consider matching shapes, colors, textures and contours carefully. Below is an example. Upload to your blog as “Sliced.”

50. Superhero Mashup With Disney Due Wednesday before class is over

Combine any Disney or Pixar character with the super powers you just know he/she deserves. You pick the character and the power. Be creative and have fun! Below is an example. Upload to your blog as “Superhero Mashup.”

51. Bad Mail due Thursday before class is over

There’s a bumpy package on the doorstep with a lion’s tail hanging out the back. There’s something very wrong with that envelope. We just got a letter, the worst letter you can possibly imagine. Show us the bad mail! Below is an example. Upload to your blog as “Bad Mail.”

Assignments April 15-18

44. Acrostic poem Due Monday before class is over

Every name has a meaning! Many of us may have been named after our parents, a relative, a historical person or a character from literature. Now’s your opportunity to give meaning to your name. Your assignment is to use Adobe Spark Post to create an acrostic poem of your name. Include an image. Upload to your blog as “Acrostic Poem.”

45. Travel Brochure Due Tuesday before class is over

Create a travel brochure in Spark for a country you would like to visit. Upload to your blog as “Travel Brochure.”

Your brochure should include:

  • The name of your country
  • Pictures of your country
  • Locations where you could visit for a vacation in your country
  • A description of your country (including features and landforms)
  • Fun things to do
  • Plants and animals found in your country
  • To create a successful brochure design, be sure that:

    • Size, font, and color choices make text clear and easy to read
    • Text and background colors match colors in images
    • Space is used effectively so brochure elements are balanced on the page and not crowded
    • Style of text and images is consistent and unified

46. Menu Cover Due Wednesday before class is over

Create a Menu Cover for a restaurant in Spark: Needs to be 8×12, include a logo (name of the restaurant), phone number, address, hours of operation, pictures, and what kind of food is served (Italian, Mexican, American, etc). Upload to your blog as a JPEG and title the post “Menu Cover.”

47. Comic Book Cover – Due Thursday before class is over

Create a comic book cover in Spark, 8×10, include the title of the comic book, images that you have made and put together, the date of the issue and the issue number. Upload to your blog as “Comic Book Cover.” 

Assignments April 8-11

42. Spark Social Graphic Due Wednesday before class is over

We will watch this video to explain more on how to make a Spark Graphic, and then you will create your own social graphic for an upcoming art show or music concert. You will create the images in Photoshop using the tools we have learned in class and then create the graphic in Spark. Upload the Spark link to your blog. Title the blog post “Social Graphic”

43. Spark Movie Poster Due Thursday before class is over

Create a movie poster using Spark and Photoshop. This can be for any movie that is out of the theatre now. This needs to be your own version of the movie poster, do not just copy and paste one that is already made. You need to create the images in Photoshop and then use Spark to put the poster together. You must include the title of the movie and at least three stars that are in the movie.

38. Lightning Effect Due Monday Before Class is over

Follow the tutorial to add lightning to an image of your choice (probably should use something that has a cloudy look). Below is an example. Upload to your blog as a JPEG, title the post “Lightning Effect.” After the tutorial you will make your own lightning effect, so turn in both the one you did during the tutorial and on your own as a gallery.

39. Lens Flare Due Tuesday Before Class is over

Follow the tutorial to add a lens flare to an image of your choice (probably should use something that has a sunny look). Below is an example. Upload to your blog as a JPEG, title the post “Lens Flare.”  After the tutorial you will make your own lens flare, so turn in both the one you did during the tutorial and on your own as a gallery.

40. Snow Falling Due Wednesday Before Class is Over

Follow the tutorial to add snow falling in an image of your choice (use something that does have some snow on the ground). Below is an example. Upload to your blog as  JPEG, title the post “Snow Falling.” After the tutorial you will make your own snow falling, turn in both the one you did during the tutorial and on your own as a gallery.

35. Water Drops Due Monday before class is over

Follow the tutorial to add water drops to an image of your choice. Below is an example. When we are done with the tutorial you will create another water drop effect on your own. Upload to your blog as a JPEG with both photos as a gallery,title the post “Water Drops.”

36. Ghost Effect Due Tuesday before class is over

Follow the tutorial to add a ghost effect to an image of your choice (this one works better with an image of a face up close, scared). Below is an example. When we are done with the tutorial you will create another ghost effect on your own. Upload to your blog as a JPEG with both photos as a gallery, title the post “Ghost Effect.”

37. Book Cover Due Thursday before class is over

You are writing a book about a strange thing that happened to you as you were visiting a city or a small town. Create the cover to that book. Be creative and inventive. You should use the rectangular marquee, lasso, brush tools, and magic wand in Potoshop and any other tools we have learned to create the picture and then add the title of the book, make sure that  you include and can read the title and author. Save as a JPEG. Upload to your blog as “Book Cover.” Below is an example of a picture without the text.

31. Reflection due Monday before class is over

Follow the tutorial to create a water reflection look, please use the image below during the tutorial. After you will create your own with any image you would like to use. Upload to your blog as a JPEG, gallery with both completed reflections, title the post “Reflection.”

 

32. Vertical Panels due Tuesday before class is over

Using the tutorial create a vertical panels effect. Save as a jpeg.   You will make one during the tutorial and one on your own. Below is an example of what it will look like. Upload to your blog as a JPEG, gallery with both completed images, title the post “Vertical Panels.”

34. Texture Blending due Thursday before class is over
Follow the tutorial to create a textured image like the one below. Use the texture below for the tutorial and the image to the right. When finished you will create your own with any image you want and you can find a different texture to use. 27. Introduction to Layer Masks – Due Monday at the end of class

This tutorial will explain and show how layer masks work. You need to follow along with the tutorial, when you are finished save your image as a JPEG and upload it to your blog, title the blog post “Layer Mask.”

28. Photo Within a Photo – Due Tuesday at the end of class

Go to the link and follow the tutorial to create a photo within a photo. You will create one while I go through the tutorial and then another one on your own. Turn into your blog both photos as a gallery, blog post should be titled “Photo Within a Photo.”

29. Photo as a Background – Due Wednesday at the end of class

Follow the tutorial to add a photo as a background. Below is what it will look like. Use the wedding photo during the tutorial, then you will use one of your own photos to create a second one. Turn in both photos on your blog as a gallery. Title the blog “Photo as a Background.”

 
 
30. Image in Text – Due Thursday at the end of class

Follow the tutorial and learn how to place an image inside of text. You will turn in two of these, one that will be done during the tutorial and one that you will do on your own. Make sure to save as a JPEG and upload to your blog as “Image in Text” and as a gallery.
